Having spent some happy years at Berkeley as a grad student (one of the best decisions I've ever made, by the way!), I'm now doing a post-doc in Chicago. For me it means a bit less free time to do random stuff but I still have plenty of interests outside of research to go around.
Having been somewhat of a drifter, I now consider _____ home. I don't quite feel like a Chicagoan yet. Berkeley felt like home but I left California about 8 months ago. Before this, I spent a few years in Ann Arbor, Michigan getting my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, and before that, a few years in Plano, Texas finishing high school. My childhood years were spent in Hong Kong but I probably can't guide you around there any better than any random tourist you pick off the streets.
